There are a few ways to go about treating soil contamination, which depends on the objectives of the project. In some cases, the goal is to fully remediate the contamination, which involves treating the soil to completely remove the contamination. In other cases, the goal may be to mitigate the threat of the contamination, which involves reducing the contamination to levels that are still safe to interact with.
Horizontal wells are an ideal resource for both cases. Horizontal wells can be used to remediate soil contamination through the process of soil vapor extraction (SVE), or can be installed beneath building foundations as sub-slab depressurization systems to minimize harmful vapors from entering the facility above.

Directional Technologies installed a horizontal sub-slab depressurization well system at the site of a former dry cleaning facility. Read the following horizontal well Case Study to learn how it was accomplished. Click here to download the Case Study.
