The railroad crossing in this picture was completed in the early 2000s, near Ken’s Salad Dressing corporate headquarters in Marlborough, MA. A 6” steel conduit was used to install fiber.

Each railroad company has specific criteria that must be satisfied for that company to feel comfortable with using directional drilling to install utilities under their tracks.  As one of the oldest directional drilling companies in New England, Directional Technologies has worked with railroad companies to understand and embrace directional drilling as acceptable technology for under track installations.

A project completed by Directional Technologies is frequently used to demonstrate directional drilling under and around railroad tracks.   This environmental remediation project consisted of installing 17 horizontal remediation wells and 10 utility conduits at the Long Island Rail Road Morris Park Yard in Queens, NY.  This project was completed in 2007 and was not the company’s first railroad crossing demonstrating a long history of directional drilling under railroad tracks.
