    Sewer Lines

By implementing horizontal directional drilling techniques, utility sewer lines can be installed with more accuracy and less mess. Common obstructions like existing utility lines, roadways, and waterways can easily be avoided through expert locating to precisely install the sewer conduit.

A sewer line is a crucial part of a plumbing system that carries wastewater from homes, businesses, and other buildings to a treatment facility or septic system. Its primary purpose is to transport sewage and other liquid waste safely and efficiently, helping to maintain sanitary conditions and protect public health by preventing the contamination of groundwater, rivers, and other water sources. Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) is a trenchless technology used to install utility sewer lines and other underground pipes without the need for extensive excavation. Depending on the application, utility sewer lines can come in many different diameters, sizes, and materials, all of which can be installed accurately with HDD drilling.

A typical method for installing utility sewer lines is through trenching or excavations. Sewer lines are installed several feet below ground, which can make trenching a challenging task, especially in areas with high water tables or existing infrastructure. HDD is an excellent alternative, which is unaffected by the common difficulties associated with trenching.

Since the drill bit is advanced horizontally below ground, there is significantly less surface-level restoration required in an HDD application. This can reduce costs and headaches associated with restoring the environment to pre-existing conditions.

HDD is particularly useful in situations where the utility sewer line must be installed in environmentally sensitive areas, such as wetlands. It is nearly impossible to trench through environments like this, as contractors are forced to jump through logistical and permitting hoops. Rather than reorganizing the entire layout of the utility sewer system, HDD can install the conduit through these zones without any disturbance to surface-level features.

Sewer utility lines are often installed beneath existing roadways. Ideally, they are installed during or prior to the construction of the roadway. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes sewer lines need to be replaced long after the road or highway has been completed. In these situations, HDD can safely install the sewer line without needing to tear up the road and spend time repaving it.

Horizontal directional drilling techniques are the preferred method for utility sewer line installations. In the long run, the HDD application is both time-efficient and cost-effective.
